January 23rd, 2012February 7, 2012 Piloting (P) Class – The Piloting class will at 1900 in the MDC building on Sandpiper Dr. in New Smyrna. The class will run between 6 and 8 weeks and your instructor will be Commander Will. So far we have 11 students signed up and if anyone else would like to join please give me a call and I’ll be glad to add your name to the class.
Power Squadron Seamanship Class
August 22nd, 2011Ponce Inlet Sail & Power Squadron would like to hold a Seamanship class and those eligible members will be contacted in the very near future.
If there is a particular class you would like to take, call me and we’ll put something together.

Using GPS Seminar – May 21, 2011
April 22nd, 2011Ponce deLeon Inlet Sail & Power Squadron will be hosting the Using GPS Seminar to be held at Saxon Park in New Smyrna Beach, FL beginning 0900 on 21 May 2011. If you would like to register for this seminar you may do so at any time until 20 May. This seminar is a requirement for the IN Certificate.
Marine RADAR Seminar – April 30, 2011
April 22nd, 2011Ponce deLeon Inlet Sail & Power Squadron will be hosting the USPS Seminar titled Marine RADAR on Sat. 30 Apr 2011 at Saxon Park in New Smyrna Beach, FL beginning 0900. If you have already signed up for the seminar please confirm your attendance by 29 Apr. If you still to register, you can do so by 29 Apr. Although recommended for the CN Certificate, this seminar will be required for the ACN Certificate.
Get Some Useful Marine Forecast Data Through Aviation Forecast Products!
March 25th, 2011I put together some information on our web site about using aviation forecasts for mariners who are nearshore and on inland bodies of water.
1) I’ve given talks to those that primarily use the Itnracoastal Waterways. A typical need for these boaters is to know the timing of thunderstorms. be. One tool is to use the Aviation Forecast. Yes, that is correct! These forecasts are very site specific and updated more frequently than the marine forecast.
“Nearest Light” A new program to find a USCG light list number quickly
March 25th, 2011Nearest Light is a Windows application that finds the lights nearest to your present position, using the monthly Light List updates published by the United States Coast Guard. The full Light List is published in printed and PDF formats but the lights are listed in reference number order and follow the channels. This is not the ideal format for Cooperative Charting, where we are usually working from a GPS.

If you are interested in an exciting, in-depth boating safety course, check out America’s Boating Course. Many boat insurance companies will offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete America’s Boating Course. And, this beginner boating class will give you the knowledge needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification in many states.
