This 2 hour seminar will be held on May 1, 2010 at the New Smyrna Boat and Ski Club at 9:00 and will be followed by an on water experience at the Marine Discovery Center. This seminar is intended for those about to join the sport and those considering purchasing paddling equipment.

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009October 28, 2009 – With our inaugural ABC3 class behind us, the Ponce de Leon Inlet Sail and Power Squadron is again proud to present the America’s Boating Course Version 3 (ABC3) to the public. The course content has been developed in conjunction with state boating agencies responsible for boater education and is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and is recognized by the U. S. Coast Guard.

Thursday, August 27th, 2009In an effort to inspire more interest in taking in-house boating courses, Headquarters has announced prize giveaways for certain member courses. Here is how it works. Take and complete one of the qualifying courses between 7/1/2009 and 6/30/2010. Successfully pass the examination before 6/30/2010. You will be automatically entered in the drawing. The winner’s names will be drawn at the 2010 Governing Board in Seattle between 8/30 and 9/4/2010. The available prizes are:

Thursday, August 27th, 2009The Paddle Smart Seminar of May 30th was a resounding success. There were 18 participants (6 were Ponce members). Marilyn Sullivan and Mark Spradley of the Marine Discovery Center taught the seminar and their paddling experience was great. The highlight of the event was when everyone converged on the bank of the river and a fleet of kayaks took off for Bird and Chicken Islands. Everyone that I spoke with really enjoyed the outing. Hopefully, we will offer this seminar again in the near future.

Sunday, March 15th, 2009America’s Boating Course (New)
March 18, 2009 – America’s Boating Course Member Introduction - Please be advised that the date for the “Americas Boating Class” introduction has been changed to March 18, 2009. The introduction will be held in portable classroom 110 at the New Smyrna Beach Branch of the Daytona Beach College. This change is necessary as the college is on spring break March11th. The introduction will start at 7:00pm and end at 9:00pm. It is requested that all instructors and publication staff attend. If others are interested in attending to see what the new ABC class is like they are welcome and may leave when ever they desire. I spent a great deal of time looking over the Instructor Manual and the Student Manual as well as reviewing the CD that comes with the course and it is fantastic and will do a far better job of holding our students attention. Not only will we be able to teach the basics of boating, but we will be able to teach navigation in an optional two sessions. I believe you will find this presentation very interesting and it will give you the information you need to introduce friends, neighbors, and fellow boaters to the ABC program.
